Established more than 25 years ago, our niche market client have developed an impressive reputation across the globe offering highest quality, innovative and unique products in line with specific customer needs, and as a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a proactive, professional and highly self motivated and dynamic Design Engineer to complement their established and successful existing team.

The role of Design Engineer is newly created and demands the successful candidate be able to demonstrate directly relevant experience of product development within the consumer product industry and combining experience in the detail design of both plastic and metal components for a range of innovative applications.

Qualified to first degree level in a mechanical or engineering related discipline, you will possess genuine passion for product design and engineering in general, and will demonstrate the ability to adopt a creative approach to problem solving and technical concept generation alongwith an appreciation of the use of engineering analysis in product development. Essentially you will also possess at least 2 years experience I the use of SolidWorks 3D CAD tools (although ProEngineer may be considered when supported by a strong portfolio of work including sketchwork).

With your in-depth knowledge of high volume manufacturing methods and processes and detailed knowledge of rapid prototyping methods, you will ensure products function correctly, are strong enough for purpose and that each component adheres to cost target and can be manufactured. You will thrive in an environment that allows you to take complete product developments from concept to market, and will be knowledgeable about injection mould tooling, aluminium extrusions and castings as well as the use of FMEA and prototype design and appraisal.

You will be ESSENTIALLY be both first class degree qualified in a relevant Product Design, Manufacturing or Engineering related discipline, and able to demonstrate at least 2 years experience in the design and development of all types of plastic and metal components and assemblies for mass production within a creative CONSUMER PRODUCT development environment, with proven success in the delivery of complex projects within a fast paced environment and experience gained within the retail market proving additionally advantageous, as will experience of dealing with electronics or electromechanical assemblies, textiles and soft goods.
